About

If bread, the staff of life, feeds the body; stories nourish the soul. –Alex Morritt

We tell ourselves stories in order to live. –Joan Didion

Family, friends, and food are ways to celebrate life. There is a communion of spirits when you mix these ingredients together. Stir in shared adventures anywhere in the world and a story is ready to be told.

From 1987-2018, I lived with my family in six countries; Singapore, Cyprus, Taiwan, Germany, France, and the home-base in Colorado, USA. During our early years overseas, while living in Singapore, I discovered the books of M.F.K. Fisher [1908-1992].

Fisher wrote about people, places and food in settings from California to France. Reading her books was influential to my own story telling. It’s a metaphoric recipe. We are nourished by good food. We are nurtured by great friendships and love.

Therein lies the thread to my writing. It’s not always about food, but there is always an adventure or friendship or love.

Since we repatriated to living in the U.S., in 2018, my stories have evolved into writing about people or ideas as well as remembrances of our overseas life. Perhaps the byline for A Taste of Mind should become “window to a life”.

It is something you do so well and sharing with those who love you is brilliant. I am headed to the farm en famille and will attempt to create Mimi’s stew tonight!! xx
